An update - Human Computer Lab and LeLamp 💡
It's been a year since we started working on our first robot LeLamp.
So we wanted to take a moment to show you just how far this has come, what we have learned and what's next.

Here's the story so far..
June 2025: Human Computer Lab started. From day one, we published research and experiments every two weeks to solve the gap between interfaces and intelligence.
August 2025: Built our first prototype (using the SO-100 arm), and in two weeks open-sourced our own design for what became LeLamp. Later that month, we raised our pre-seed from South Park Commons and FR8.

October 2025: Built the first version that we can ship out as a dev kit for our friends in Waterloo at the BoxBots hackathon.

November 2025: Opened pre-orders (that's most of you 💛). Gave out 7 robot kits at the BoxBots hackathon. Got featured on TBPN and BetaKit.

December 2025: Demoed to a crowd at South Park Commons in New York.

January 2026: Ran our first pilots in real homes. Showed up at a University of Toronto hackathon and handed out 6 kits with a build manual. Hosted our first Storytelling x Robots event.

February 2026: Built our first experiment game on the robot. Simultaneously, we also started experimenting with a new generation of interactions such as gesture control, current sensing and springiness for our robot.

March–April 2026: More home pilots, hosted the second robot-building event (Bot, Build & Bites). Had a booth at the Socractica Symposium where 1,000+ people showed up to meet our robot! LeLamp was also featured by Claude (Anthropic).

May 2026: Announced we were hiring, and have received ~5000 applicants to date. Later that month we brought on an incredible team!
June 2026: At Humans in the Loop we demoed LeLamp in front of 1,000 people, and started serious work on our manufacturable version.

July 2026: We are now at full speed towards our first generation that will be produced at scale, and we also showed robots to thousands of investors at SPC Demo Faire. We also made some spring LeLamp hats ;)

This month:
- We're collaborating with ex. Pixar animator and an animation studio that worked on Batman LEGO movie to bring LeLamp's character to life.
- We're giving a talk at Stanford on August 21 as part of the Stanford Robotics Center seminar series. If you're around the Bay Area, come say hi.
- We're growing the team, hiring across disciplines to build a world-class team.

You can also follow along on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and X for behind-the-scenes + updates.
We'll have more to share soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions, just reply here. We're excited to get this to you with a deep care for craft.
